Tellulah

by Marcie Tepper

Tellulah

Tellulah dear what can I say

Your knees are gone, they’ve given way

I’m glad you’re here with me right now

You’ll feel no pain, of this I vow

I’ll keep you warm and safe and full

Until the time I feel God’s pull

Then I will hold you close and pray

As all you pain goes far away

I sometimes see it in you eyes

I won’t tell you any lies

Your time with me, it will be brief

Then I will be so full of grief

Until that time I promise you

I’ll whatever I can do

To give you just a little fun

Before your time on earth is done

I’ll let you sleep upon my bed

And make sure that you’re always fed

I’ll keep you warm and safe for sure

Until the pain you can’t endure

You were left tied to a gate

They didn’t care what was you fate

But you were found and brought to me

This I know was meant to be

To do this, it was so unkind

To walk away, leave you behind

I lose my faith sometimes you see

I wonder how this came to be

Every time I walk past you

You rise and stick to me like glue

Just learn to lay and rest my friend

We want more time before the end

A treatment I will try to give

To give you much more time to live

I want to show you so much more

Before you pass through Heaven’s door

So please be patient while we try

Your joints I know must feel so dry

This will help rejuvenate

I pray to God it’s not too late

This time together may be short

The steps and jumps we will abort

We’ll lay together, enjoy the time

You’re still so young, just in your prime

Hopefully you can endure

This life until we find a cure

But if that wasn’t meant to be

Your spirit will be then set free

I’ll hold you close and rub your fur

I’ll cry so hard you’ll be a blur

You have a brother you will meet

He’s waiting there for you to greet

His name is Jonah, he went ahead

So at this time please do not dread

He’ll wait for you with open arms

And dazzle you with all his charms

I’ve told him of your troubles here

And asked please to hold you near

I know he’s waiting by the gate

When free of pain you’ve met your fate

You’ll romp and play, have loads of fun

When your mission here on earth is done

I pray that you will help me see

The day that it is meant to be

Please know I’ll always hold you dear

I’ll think of you and shed a tear

Your life it taught so much to me

I know this time was meant to be

I shame myself for feeling blue

I should be thinking more of you

I’m not the one who suffers here

I really need to make that clear

God loves all creatures great and small

He’s not forgotten you at all

He sent you here to teach me much

The wonder of Him in your touch

And when I lay you down to sleep

I pray the pain at bay He’ll keep

And hold you as you soar above

Enveloped in His awesome love
