I need to take a break from Pyrs

I know that all they’ll bring are tears

For all the years they took my time

Instead of with you in your prime

 

Then some day a life I’ll save

I need some time to mourn your loss

There are so many who will die

If I at least don’t even try

But each time that I look at them

When Jonah died it took a year

When the first one came I shed a tear

I knew that many lives were lost

When I take a break it is with a cost

 

For twelve long years you held my heart

And always will though we’re apart

You will always have a special place

I’ll close my eyes and see your face

 

But for the many who have no one

For them my job is never done

I need to plug along each day

They never ask to be a stray

 

They’re so frightened as they wait

Not knowing just what is their fate

If I don’t go get them they will die

Never even hearing a good-bye

Help me shower them with love

Their life lost is such a waste
