For Us Humans Left Behind

 

God’s the one who picks the time

It’s not for us to choose

When he decides to call one home

It’s those left behind who lose

 

We lose the sweet companionship

Of those we hold so dear

But if we keep them in our hearts

They will not disappear

 

Now we need to think of them

How they’re running free of pain

For when they were on Earth

Chances are they didn’t complain

 

Never will they hunger

For now their favorite foods abound

Their time will be spent playing

As they roll upon the ground

 

So say a prayer each night

Before you lay yourself to sleep

That those who leave before us

In our hearts we’ll always keep
