She has a wonderful family now

But she was still my sweet little pup

She knew me on the onset

She jumped up high and licked my face

She held on for her dear life

We just stood in that embrace

She hasn’t seen me in four months

I know that she is loved so much

I wasn’t sure if she’d remember me

Or our special, secret touch

I’ve been told she doesn’t jump

Or lick others like with me

I’m glad her current mother

Wasn’t there for this to see

For I would never hurt her mom

Who takes such good care of her

Never would I wish her think

It’s me her dog would prefer

I never would have let her go

To live in a new place

If I didn’t trust she’d get the love

Like she does daily in this case

She is a loved and cherished pet

Whose mom dotes on her each day

She is the center of her life

Who misses her when she’s away

She will always have a place

Within this heart of mine

But she is with her family now

And I know she’ll be just fine
