I know for as long as I live I’ll never
forget that day
Your little body mangled, you had no use
of your rear
You clawed across the road with injuries
so severe
At least four cars sat watching as you
fought to stay alive
I’m surprised you weren’t hit again, the
way that people drive
I plucked you up and held you close,
knowing death was your fate
But I promised you I’d hold you close as
you went to Heaven’s Gate
I didn’t walk away that day, leaving you
to die alone
I figured I could comfort you, not make
you leave life on your own
I took you to my vet, I had them take a
look at you
I sat there in waiting room, waiting for
x-rays to be through
Imagine my surprise to hear it was just a
broken leg
For them to save your life, I didn’t even
have to beg
It would take a special surgeon, only one
could do the job
There’s no vet upon this Earth with the
skills of Dr. Bob
He fixed your tiny body and his staff
found you a home
Now you have a loving family who would
never let you roam
I don’t know why God put me there, at
that moment on that day
I guess He knew I’d be the one to make
sure you’d be okay
Yes I had to pay your bill and I’d do it
all again
There are creatures out there who will
need me now and then
Tho others cannot understand the peace I
feel inside
Saving of God’s creatures who otherwise
would have died
