My days spent in a kennel
When I have so much more to give
I’d rather be right by your side
To run and jump and play
Not sitting in this prison
Day after day after day
Why did you ever get me
If this is what you planned to do
Why even own a dog
If it never spends time with you
How can you watch me from your home
And see me sitting here
Not a thing to play with
Not a thing that I hold dear
Once a day you give me food
Make sure my water’s full
You won’t take me for a walk
‘Cause you’re afraid that I might pull
How could you know what I would do
If I am not allowed the chance
I swear that sometimes when you feed
I don’t even get a glance
I see your family through the glass
Of that fancy house you own
I see you laughing, playing, talking
While I sit here all alone
So I make this plea to humans
Before they go and get a pup
This is not where they belong
It’s in your house we should wake up
