All my "friends" keep telling me
I need to take a break
And I'd love to if all these animals
Would stop dying for goodness sake

How can they be so thoughtless
Just to glance the other way
When with each and every animal
It's with their life that they do pay

I know it's overwhelming
And I barely make a dent
But every time I save a life
It is a day that's been well spent

It sure does sound so easy
When they say to just say "no"
But is sickens of my stomach
As I turn and watch them go

For they may think they're friends
But I know that they don't care
About the lives I'm saving
Who's honest feelings can't compare

So maybe someday soon
I'll take a "break" for a few days
Maybe listen to some music
Watch my Granddaughter as she plays

But even just to take some days
A night or even two
Means begging for some help
To watch the ones committed to

This is where the line is drawn
It filters out each so called "friend"
Their nonchalance for our great creatures
I can't even comprehend
