If this wasn’t so I’d have no strength to
go on
I know it’s from you that my abilities
are drawn
When I want to quit seeing all the dogs
who may die
I see your grateful saved faces and I
know I must try
To save even one from the clutches of
death
To take from the shelter before they take
their last breath
Sometimes I spend a lot of time thinking
of you
Then I get off my rear and know what I
must do
For if I hadn’t brought you here to give
you a chance
I wouldn’t understand how much my life
you enhance
So many in shelters, I know I can’t save
them all
I’ve helped so many already I can’t even
recall
The names of some who have passed through
my hands
‘Cause I’m always so busy with life’s
daily demands
Please help me remember each loving lost
face
The memories of them please do help me
embrace
I want to remember each one who went
before me
Never to hunger and live a life that’s
pain free
