Marcie's Poems

We are members of a Michigan Rescue List and on this list are many devoted rescue owners. Marcie a long time member who in addition to having a wonderful heart is very skilled in pulling together words that will open others hearts. Her poems are amazing and soulful, they are about pets whose path has crossed hers. You can tell in the reading of her work that every one touched Marcie's soul and is forever a part of her. Some of the pets have crossed the bridge before her and I am sure are waiting for the Great Pyrenees Rescue lady who loved them in their time of need while on earth. With loving care she made sure they passed in love, not in fear and alone.

Why I Write

The words that I put down on paper
Are sent to my heart from above
They’re meant to teach kindness, compassion
But most of all God’s unique love

I’ve been given a talent for writing
Of this I have often been told
Then why can’t I just go retire
And live off of poems I’ve sold

The answer is really quite simple
The writings are not mine to sell
I’m only a vessel they flow through
They’re meant for a lesson to tell

I feel if I try to gain profit
To gain from the stories I share
I’m afraid all my thoughts will be empty
And my heart will be empty and bare

The stories to share are so many
They’re all spinning around in my head
When you read of my loved ones who’ve left me
I feel they no longer are dead

Each life I have saved has a value
Sometimes only to me and to God
But he keeps telling me to keep going
And from way up above gives a nod

Some can’t comprehend of my choices
How I’d rather be poor but fulfilled
To save even one gentle creature
Who otherwise might have been killed

I’ll keep doing just what I am meant to
Not caring what others may think
Because it’s not done for mere people
It’s from a much bigger well that I drink
